Dr. Perkins graduated from a combined Emergency and Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Maryland in 2007. He currently is faculty for the Virginia Tech Emergency Medicine Residency and spends four weeks per year as a faculty attending on the Family Medicine inpatient service. His main academic interests involve infectious disease quality improvement, geriatric emergency medicine, and exploration of optimal methods for teaching residents about social determinants of health.
