Dr. Guttman was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He completed his medical school and residency in Emergency Medicine at McGill University, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in Emergency Medicine ultrasound at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He currently serves as an assistant professor and the ultrasound fellowship director for the department of emergency medicine at Emory University. Dr. Guttman speaks nationally and internationally on point-of-care ultrasound topics. Nationally, Dr. Guttman spoke at AAEM21 and AAEM22. In addition, Dr. Guttman has spoken at SAEM , the coastal emergency medicine conference and the Rocky Mountain Winter Conference. Internationally, Dr. Guttman has spoken at the McGill University, MTL-SONO conference in Canada and at the Israel Academy of Emergency Medicine annual meeting. Dr. Guttman has been an AAEM member since 2010. With AAEM, Dr. Guttman is the founder and director of the ongoing "Unmute Your Probe" virtual ultrasound series. He served 2 consecutive terms on the AAEM emergency ultrasound section board of directors and currently serves as the education chair for the section. Dr. Guttman serves on national POCUS committees, including as a council member for the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council and the associate POCUS course director for Foundations of Emergency Medicine.
