This session will prepare the learner on how to rapidly and accurately make an appropriate determination as to decisional making capacity of the ED patient with a focus on HIGH RISK populations including intoxicated, psychiatric and geriatric patients. Through case based learning, our discussion will define what capacity is (and is not), review the steps in determining patient capacity and highlight documentation pearls all emergency medicine physicians MUST know.
