Stroke only happens to elderly men and women and has a very straightforward presentation, right?? Wrong!! Current data shows that 15% of all ischemic strokes occur in young adults and adolescents. In fact, hospitalization rates for patients age 25-44 have increased by 44%. This track session will open audience members' eyes to the scary fact the many younger patients are having strokes. But have no fear, this session will discuss tip and tricks of recognizing stroke in younger patients as we discuss risk factors, certain populations that are at higher risk than others, and diagnostic tests that are high yield.
