When a child has a seizure, it can be very scary for a parent, but an emergency physician can address this common chief complaint with confidence. This session will explore practical approaches to diagnosis and management of pediatric first time seizure presenting to the emergency department. We will explore various types of seizures children may present with. In addition, we will consider appropriate inpatient versus outpatient dispositions which are applicable to low-resourced and high-resourced settings.
