Many academic and community emergency departments do not have 24/7 dental consultation available, thus leaving the emergency physician to handle dental emergencies. This session will cover the ED management of traumatic dental emergencies, including dental fractures, luxations and avulsions.
Learning Objectives:
After the session, the learner will develop an approach to dental trauma, including recognizing when emergent dental consultation is necessary.
After this session, the learner will be able to perform dental splinting to stabilize broken and displaced teeth.
After this session, the learner will be able to manage avulsed teeth to improve the chance of tooth salvage.
