Emergency medicine physicians will be expected to play an integral response in their community's response to periods of civil unrest. Yet, periods of civil unrest present not only unique injury patterns to patients but also present challenges from an operational and security perspective. This talk will discuss expected injury patterns from crowd control agents (ie tear gas) and kinetic impact projectiles (ie rubber bullets) as well as address ways to remain operational yet safe during a period of civil unrest.
