The blood pressure is dropping despite titrating up the patient’s pressors—what should be done next? This session will review the reasons why vasopressors sometimes don’t work, including hypocalcemia, acidosis, alternative shock states, and more. Moving beyond that differential, a practical step-by-step approach to treating vasopressor-refractory shock will be introduced.
Learning Objectives:
Analyze the differential for vasopressor-refractory hypotension/shock.
Develop a treatment plan for vasopressor-refractory hypotension/shock.
